EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique works on the body’s energy (or meridian) channels. By stimulating certain points in your body, you are able to access the brain’s stress and fear response and lessen their effect on you.
The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system in which each meridian point represents a series of specific emotions, EFT focuses its attention on removing these energy blockages in order to restore a sense of well-being. The process of EFT has been the source of profound healing’s and indicates that negative emotions do cause a disruption in the body’s energy system.
How did EFT Develop?
EFT was developed by a psychiatrist named Gary Craig in the 1990s, he was a nondenominational ordained minister and a certified master practitioner in NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) and he figured out that Tapping on meridian points can be used to treat an emotional issue and it’s success is due to it’s simplicity and effectiveness to healing an emotional blockage.
How does EFT Work?
To understand how EFT works it is important to recognise that your body has an energy system. Past trauma, anxiety, depression, excess weight, anger, sadness, guilt, jealousy or any other negative emotion, fear or phobia causes blockages in your energy system. EFT works by tapping on certain meridian points in the body while addressing an identified issue or problem. Using the power of positive statements and the rhythm of tapping specific energy points, the body’s energy is able to be restored and allows emotional healing to happen. Just as acupuncture uses needles to apply pressure and balance energy flow, EFT uses tapping with fingers on meridian points to simulate acupressure.
