Regular facials are not just something you do to treat yourself. Our skin is subjected to large amounts of pollution, dirt, grime, and an accumulation of dead skin cells. This buildup is unavoidable. Getting regular facials can be compared to going to the dentist. Although you brush and floss when you remember, we all know the importance I’m a regular dental clean and check-up. A root canal or dentures are far more costly than your regular dentist visits. Regular facials, even if only every few months, will save you in the long run. We also know that prevention is easier (and less painful and expensive) than trying to reverse the signs of ageing. When we are young, the life cycle of skin cell it’s roughly 30 days. As we age this can take much longer, meaning the skin renewal process slows down, and any problems with your skin will take a lot longer.

Why it is important to look after your skin.

Your skin is the largest organ in your body. It works with your other organs in detoxifying your body and with your immune system as the first line of defence against pathogenic bacteria. Much of what you put onto your skin is absorbed into your body. Your skin also has its own microbiome which requires a particular environment to thrive in. This is why many products on the market talk about being pH balanced. Distractions to this microbiome lead to many skin conditions such as acne, ageing, and irritation.

The importance of choosing organic skincare.

We all know the benefits of eating an organic diet- no nasty chemicals, no nasty preservatives, and no hidden additives while reducing our risk of chronic disease and cancer. Well, the same goes for skincare. Synthetic products added to your skin can load your skin with chemicals that can contribute to ageing, redness, irritation, and breakouts. As well as skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, and pigmentation. When looking for skincare products it is important to look for one that is full of antioxidants, flavonoids and other anti-inflammatory ingredients, and one that protects your skin from UV damage. Natural products work with your body to support healthy skin.

What to expect during your treatment.

During the consultation, you will enjoy a foot soak and exfoliation while your therapist and you discuss your concerns with your skin. Your facial will begin with a double cleanse to remove make-up, excess oil, and any surface dead skin cell build-up. This will be followed by a brief skin analysis to assess which products are right for your skin and right for addressing your concerns. From l this point on all products used on your skin will be specifically tailored to you. During your facial, you’ll receive an exfoliating to further remove dead skin cells which can boost radiance, even out skin tone and texture, and encourage the skins renewal process. Your facial ends with your skin being toned and moisturised.
